About This Place

Nestled at the junction of MB-11 and MB-313 in the charming town of Lac du Bonnet, Drifter's Inn and Gulf, Restaurant and Lounge stands out as a true local gem, offering a warm and welcoming experience for families, travelers, and casual diners alike. This multifaceted establishment beautifully blends the comfort of a family restaurant with the convenience of a gas station and the relaxed vibe of a lounge, making it a versatile stop for anyone passing through or planning a longer stay.

Step inside the restaurant and you’ll be greeted by the inviting aroma of home-cooked meals crafted with care and generosity. The menu is a delicious journey through hearty comfort food classics and local favorites that cater to all tastes. Whether it’s the iconic Eggs Benedict served perfectly poached atop English muffins drenched in silky hollandaise, or a plate of crispy Applewood Smoked Chicken Wings bursting with smoky tenderness, every dish feels like a warm embrace on a plate.

For those craving something truly indulgent, the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich is a standout—slow-roasted, juicy beef smothered in rich gravy, served with your choice of comforting potatoes and fresh daily vegetables, it’s a dish that comforts and satisfies like homemade Sunday dinners. The Fish Dinner features beautifully flaky, beer-battered haddock that's golden and crisp, a perfect harmony of textures and flavors that entice the palate with every bite. The Fried Chicken Dinner, with its tender meat and crunchy coating, invites you to linger over a meal that tastes as good as it looks.

If pizza is your passion, Drifter’s extensive options will excite any foodie—whether it’s the classic Cheese Pizza with its perfectly melted mozzarella, the robust Meat Lovers loaded with pepperoni, bacon, ham, and taco beef, or the tropical sweetness of the Hawaiian pizza spiked with pineapples—a true aloha experience. Vegetarian options like the Veggie Lovers, packed with colorful peppers, onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes, ensure every diner finds something delightful to relish.

Health-conscious diners and those with dietary restrictions are warmly welcomed here too, with thoughtfully curated, gluten-free choices like the Deep Fried Pierogies topped with bacon and onions or the unbreaded Chicken Wings tossed in a variety of tantalizing sauces and dry rubs. The gluten-free prime options reflect Drifter’s commitment to inclusivity without compromising flavor or satisfaction.

The drinks menu complements the food beautifully, featuring classic cocktails like the Singapore Sling and the undeniably local favorite Drifter Beer. The signature Cesar alcoholic beverage draws special mention from guests seeking a perfect balance of savory and spicy to accompany their meals.

The atmosphere at Drifter’s Inn and Gulf is relaxed yet vibrant, with a friendly, homey ambiance that guests consistently praise. Customers like Siobhan Faulkner value the combination of clean, quiet rooms and excellent food during their trips, while Tim A highlights the extraordinary friendliness of the staff and the “bomb” eggs Benedict breakfast. Even amidst busy service times—such as Roger Fontaine’s visit when the restaurant was bustling—the staff’s dedication shines through, aiming to provide ample portions and a welcoming environment.

Whether you’re popping in early for breakfast before heading out on your day—much appreciated by regulars and festival visitors alike—or winding down with a comforting dinner and a cold drink in the lounge, Drifter’s Inn and Gulf wraps you in genuine hospitality. With easy parking and a location that’s simple to find, it’s no wonder this spot feels like a home away from home for many.

Service was a bit slow on this day. Very young waitress doing her best but she could have used some help. Food was great and ample. Busy for 1:30 / 2:00 in the afternoon. Easy to find and lots of parking.

Great food and the service was excellent. They open early which was a real plus. Home cooked meals! I am a caricature artist that travels with Wonder Shows and Lac du Bonnet had their annual festival so this is why I was in the diner. Enjoy!

We enjoyed breakfast. Service was friendly. It was quite busy on Sunday morning. Food was delicious. We will definitely stop by again.

My short stay at drifters was nothing short of extraordinary. The staff is so friendly, the rooms were great for the price and the food and atmosphere in the restaurant and bar are top notch. I honestly wish I was staying longer. Apparently the ceasers are a must try! I ate the eggs Benedict breakfast and it was bomb.
